Description

Resistance band heaters are often insulated using mica strips. The mica strip heaters have a loading capacity of roughly 50 kW/m2, can sustain temperatures of up to 500oC, and are inexpensive. Modern mica heaters are capable of handling power levels of up to 165 kW/m2. The use and contact of the heater's surface with the barrel determine how long it will last. Inadequate surface contact may lead to overheating, which will shorten the life of the heater or potentially cause the heater element to burn out prematurely. The mica strips may be bent to the desired circular diameter and adjusted to varied heights and lengths. Typically, holes with a diameter of about 20 mm or as needed are provided in the middle of the strips for plastic machines since it is necessary to use a bolt to attach the mica strips to the barrel.

The Standard mica strip heaters are designed depending on the equipment required in one or two piece constructions with maximum inside diameters of 111⁄2"and 221⁄2" respectively. General specifications of the mica strips and customized parts that required if you are interested for reference

The main constructions of the mica strips includes 1.mica insulation, 2.resistance wire for heating, 3.stainless steel panel, 4.lock up tabs, 5.terminals.
