Advantages of automatic start-up of electric heat tracing

In winter, outdoor communication base stations, surveillance cameras, water supply pipes, and other equipment often freeze and shut down due to lack of human supervision. Many people worry that electric heat tracing will be unusable without human intervention. However, there's no need to worry. Electric heat tracing features an automatic start-up function, automatically starting and stopping to maintain temperature based on the temperature, requiring no manual monitoring. This makes it particularly suitable for unattended outdoor scenarios.

Automatic start-up relies on "intelligent temperature control," operating automatically in low temperatures. Electric heat tracing, equipped with temperature and humidity sensors and an intelligent temperature controller, can monitor the outdoor temperature in real time. When the temperature drops below the set value (usually 5-10℃, adjustable as needed), it automatically powers on to heat up; when the temperature rises above the set range, it automatically shuts off, requiring no manual operation. One outdoor communication base station, before installing heat tracing, frequently experienced equipment failure and required emergency repairs in winter due to freezing. After installing electric heat tracing and setting the temperature controller to start at 8℃ and stop at 12℃, even after a week of unattended operation, the equipment temperature remained stable at around 10℃, preventing further freezing damage.

It is resistant to extreme environments and can withstand unattended operation. Outdoor winters are not only cold but also frequently involve rain, snow, strong winds, and frost. Ordinary heating equipment is easily damaged, while outdoor-specific electric heat tracing systems have low-temperature resistant sheaths (withstanding -40℃), UV-resistant outer layers, and are waterproof and corrosion-resistant. Even when soaked in rain and snow or battered by strong winds, they can still function normally. In a mountainous area, outdoor surveillance equipment equipped with electric heat tracing systems automatically started up even when covered by snow during a blizzard, and the surveillance did not shut down due to the low temperature. Adjacent surveillance cameras without heat tracing systems had their lenses frozen and unable to record, requiring repairs in the snow.

Low power consumption means no electricity is used even when unattended. Some people worry that the automatic start-up of electric heat tracing systems will consume power continuously, but in fact, it cuts off power once the set temperature is reached, and does not run continuously. Furthermore, the power can be selected as needed (10-25W/m is commonly used for outdoor equipment), resulting in very low energy consumption. A residential community installed 20 meters of 20W/m electric heat tracing on its outdoor water supply pipes. The monthly electricity cost in winter was only 80 yuan, much lower than the labor cost of sending people for regular inspections (at least 500 yuan per month), saving both time and money.

Compatible with a variety of outdoor equipment, providing precise insulation even without human intervention. Electric heat tracing is suitable for everything from small electronic devices to large pipeline systems: For small devices such as communication base stations and surveillance cameras, flexible electric heating film can be selected and directly attached to the equipment casing, saving space and providing automatic insulation without affecting operation; for outdoor water supply and gas pipelines, heat tracing cables can be selected, wrapped around the outer wall of the pipe and combined with an insulation layer to automatically maintain the pipe temperature and prevent freezing and blockage. In one township, after installing heat tracing on the outdoor water supply network, the pipeline remained unmaintained throughout the winter without freezing or cracking, ensuring residents' water supply.

Outdoor equipment can be completely unattended in winter, and the automatic start-up feature perfectly meets the needs of unattended operation. It requires no manual supervision, is resistant to extreme environments, has low energy consumption, and can provide precise insulation for various outdoor equipment, preventing freezing damage and downtime. Choosing the right outdoor-specific electric heat tracing eliminates worries about winter maintenance of outdoor equipment and ensures more stable operation.
