Analysis of the reasons for the short life of single-head electric heating tube

During the sales process, customers often complain about the short lifespan of their previous single-end electric heaters. Based on my own work experience, I'll analyze some of the reasons for this, for your reference only:

1. Low-end products used in high-temperature equipment

Single-end electric heaters vary widely in price from low-end to high-end, ranging from a few yuan at the low end to hundreds of yuan at the high end. Obviously, their lifespans also vary.

If you purchase an ordinary single-end electric heater in high-temperature equipment, its surface will quickly oxidize due to the high temperature, causing it to turn black and shortening its lifespan.

It is recommended to select the appropriate material for the single-end electric heater based on its surface load:

For surface loads below 5W/cm², it is recommended to use 304 stainless steel.

For surface loads between 5W/cm² and 12W/cm², it is recommended to use 321 stainless steel filled with magnesium oxide powder for medium and high temperatures.

For surface loads between 12W/cm² and 20W/cm², it is recommended to use Ingelite material filled with magnesium oxide powder for high temperatures.

2. For embedded heating applications, the gap between the tube diameter and the mounting hole of a single-ended electric heater is too large.

For single-ended electric heaters, the most important thing is to ensure that the heat generated by the tube is promptly transferred to the heating medium, reducing the temperature of the internal material, thereby effectively extending the lifespan of the heater rod.

The gap between the outer diameter of the single-ended electric heater and the hole into which it is inserted should be minimized. Typically, the gap should be less than 0.1mm. For example, for a 10mm diameter single-ended electric heater, the hole should be within 10.1mm.

3. No temperature control device in the heating device

Electric heaters generally require a control system to regulate the surface temperature of the heater. Without control, the surface temperature of the heater can easily become excessively high, leading to damage.

Of course, there are many other possible reasons for the short lifespan of single-ended electric heaters; these are just the most common ones.
