Application of Liquid Silicone Rubber in PTC Ceramic Heater

As a safe and reliable heating method, PTC ceramic heaters have been widely used in home appliances such as heaters, air conditioners, and dryers. PTC component manufacturing, heater assembly and various material supporting industries have achieved great development. In this context, it is necessary to conduct a detailed study on the materials, production processes, aging and failure modes of PTC ceramic heaters.

The performance of the heater depends on perfect structural design, high-quality materials and excellent manufacturing process. Among them, good material selection is crucial. Among all materials, the quality of PTC elements and silicone determines the pressure resistance (breakdown) and aging (power attenuation) performance of the heater.

In the anti-aging (power attenuation) effect of the heater, silicone and ptc elements bear a lot of "responsibility". However, many heater assembly companies only choose related materials from the perspective of cost, which may lead to poor product performance and slow down the healthy development of the ptc industry. Therefore, in the selection of materials, in addition to the material selection of ptc elements, silicone rubber with good heat resistance and good thermal conductivity is also a guarantee condition for high performance and high reliability of ptc heaters.

In this experiment, we conducted a detailed comparative test on XE14-A0425 and XE13-A8341 silicone rubbers of Toshiba Corporation of Japan and NS-083 and NH-100G-2 silicone rubbers of Chengdu Tuoli Chemical Co., Ltd.. The results show that the liquid silicone produced by Chengdu Tuoli Chemical Co., Ltd. has better anti-aging performance.

The aging of heaters involves many aspects of social development. In this article, we cannot just discuss the effect of liquid silicone on the aging performance of PTC heaters.
