Are there other methods to quickly cool color-changing silica gel?

There is no safe way to cool down fast. Color-changing silica gel should be cooled naturally (30-60 minutes) after regeneration to avoid structural damage. Forced cooling can cause micropore collapse or breaking of particles and so reduce the adsorption effectiveness.

1. Why can't it be cooled "quickly"? Risks: 1.

Damage to the microporous structure: Due to sudden cooling, the shrinkage of the silica framework is uneven, causing the rupture of some micropores, which leads to a loss in adsorption capacity.

Particle surface cracking : The exterior layer shrinks rapidly due to the excessive temperature differential while the inner layer is still hot, which results in stress cracks .

Permanent performance loss: Real testing revealed that performance might be reduced by 10-15% after the first regeneration by cooling with air or coldwater.

Operations not permitted: Do not spray with water, blow with a fan, expose to direct air conditioning or immediately expose to cold air.

2. Only Way Recommended: Natural Cooling Inside the Oven

Operating Procedure:

Turn the power off immediately after baking.

Shut the oven lid and let the temperature to come down slowly on the residual heat;

Let it stand at room temperature for 30-60 minutes

Store within 5 minutes of removal from oven, and seal.

Benefits: Even cooling, protects structural integrity, and is the safest and most efficient way to cool at home.

3. Acceptable "Relatively Fast" Alternatives (Not Recommended)

Procedure

**Description:**

Risk Categories

When you shut the oven door, leave it a little open.

Slow cooling (natural convection) 1–2cm gap

Medium (Can become moist)

Put on an Insulated Surface

cool in a dry location following removal from heat source

Safe but takes the same amount of time

Note: Any attempt to "speed up" the process only raises the risk and is futile.

4. Cool; seal at once. Store in aluminium foil self-sealing bags or food storage containers with sealing strips . Add a small amount of new desiccant for extra moisture protection. It is advisable to label the "Regeneration Date" and "Number of Regenerations" for simple control of the lifespan.
