Briefly describe the wavelength types of ultraviolet disinfection lamps

Ultraviolet disinfection lamps use ultraviolet radiation to kill microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses. UV rays can be divided into three categories based on their wavelength: UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVC wavelengths have the strongest bactericidal power and are widely used in UV disinfection lamps.

Common UV disinfection lamp wavelengths include 254nm/253.7nm, and 185nm.

254nm/253.7nm UV Disinfection Lamps

254nm UV disinfection lamps are currently the most common and widely used type of UV disinfection lamp. They have a sterilization rate of up to 99.9%, effectively killing most bacteria and viruses. In practice, 254nm UV disinfection lamps are widely used for sterilization and disinfection in public areas such as air purification, water treatment, food processing, schools, and hospitals.

185nm UV Disinfection Lamps

185nm UV disinfection lamps are ozone-generating UV lamps primarily used to eliminate indoor odors and harmful gases. 185nm UV rays oxidize volatile organic compounds, thereby eliminating odors and harmful gases. However, 185nm UV light is less effective against bacteria and viruses, so its use in disinfection is relatively limited.

However, it's worth noting that while UV disinfection lamps can kill bacteria and viruses, they also carry certain safety risks. Ultraviolet rays can be harmful to human skin and eyes, so when using UV disinfection lamps, it's important to protect your eyes and skin and avoid prolonged exposure.
