Causes and Treatment of Electric Water Heater Malfunctions
Fault 1: Sudden tripping under normal heating
Reason 1: The heating tube and temperature sensitive switch probe conduct heat directly through metal. If the heat conduction is too fast or too high, it will cause misoperation. Treatment: Pull the temperature sensitive switch probe up about 40mm from the bottom of the blind tube and cut off the power. Set the multimeter to a maximum resistance level of 20M Ω; Then connect the two probes to the shell of the heating tube and any of its power terminals. If the cold insulation resistance is greater than 5 Ω, the heating tube needs to be replaced;
Reason 2: The insulation performance of the heating tube decreases (usually only appears after a period of use), and its insulation resistance value is unstable. When the leakage current exceeds a certain value, the leakage protection plug will immediately act for handling: check and eliminate or replace the heating tube;
Reason 3: Leakage treatment between other live components and the casing: check and eliminate or replace components;
Reason 4: Poor contact between the leakage protection plug and the inferior socket, resulting in malfunction due to overheating. Handling: Replace the socket;
Reason 5: Either the leakage protection plug or the temperature sensitive switch malfunctions. Solution: Replace the temperature sensitive switch or the leakage protection plug.
Fault 2: No leakage occurs when not heated, but leakage occurs when filled with water:
Reason: The shell of the heating tube burns through, leaks water, and conducts electricity, resulting in leakage. Treatment: Replace the heating tube.
Fault 3: The heating indicator light is on, but it cannot be heated:
Reason 1: Poor contact or wire breakage at the plug end of the heating tube: inspection and troubleshooting;
Reason 2: The heating tube is burnt out. Treatment: Replace the heating tube.
Fault 4: The heating indicator light is not on and cannot be heated:
Reason 1: Poor contact or wire breakage at the connector of the temperature controller: inspection and troubleshooting;
Reason 2: Burnout treatment of temperature controller: Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 5: The indicator light of the water heater remains on:
Reason: There are few contact points between the temperature controller's temperature sensing surface and the flange surface of the electric heating tube. Treatment: Reinstall the temperature controller to make the temperature sensing surface in contact.

Fault 6: No insulation function, keep heating until tripping:
Reason: The temperature controller operates at an excessively high temperature or has been burned and short circuited. Treatment: Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 7: Heating time too long
Reason 1: The water heater did not use the highest power range for heating (for electric water heaters with power conversion function). Treatment: Turn the power conversion switch to the maximum power range;
Reason 2: The electric heating tube is damaged. Treatment: Replace the electric heating tube.
Fault 8: Always in insulation state and unable to reheat:
Reason: The thermostat cannot be reset and has been in an open circuit. Treatment: Replace the thermostat.
Fault 9: During the heating process of the water heater, there are water droplets dripping from the small hole of the safety valve:
Reason: Due to the fact that the electric water heater is a closed type water storage water heater, the water pressure inside the water heater is greater than 6Mpa during heating or insulation, causing the one-way safety valve to overflow and drip water droplets. Treatment: Close the inlet valve and adjust the mixing valve knob to a high temperature to avoid the leakage of the one-way safety valve, causing water to drip from the shower; If a mixing valve is not installed, the hot water outlet ball valve can be opened slightly to relieve pressure and flow water, which can also avoid leakage of the one-way safety valve.
Fault 10: The heating indicator light is not on, but it can be heated normally
Reason: Poor connection or disconnection of the indicator light.
·The indicator light is broken.
Handling method:
·Check and eliminate.
·Replace the indicator light.
Fault 11: No insulation function, keep heating until the temperature trips
Reason: The temperature controller operates at a high temperature or has been melted and short circuited
Solution: Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 12: Always in insulation state, unable to reheat
Reason: The temperature controller cannot be reset and remains in an open circuit
Solution: Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 13: Heating time too long
Reason: The first time the water heater is used (or stopped for a period of time), the time required to heat to the maximum water temperature of 750C is about 2 hours.
·The water heater does not use the highest power range for heating (for electric water heaters with power conversion function).
·Broken electric heating tube
Handling method: It is a normal phenomenon.
·Turn the power conversion switch to the maximum power position.
·Replace the electric heating tube
Fault 14: Safety valve small hole flows out
Reason: The tap water pressure is too high, exceeding 0.7 MPa (relief pressure of the safety valve).
·The steam pressure inside the heater is greater than the relief pressure of the safety valve, and there is a small amount of water flowing out.
·The temperature controller is broken, causing the water heater to remain in a heating state.
Treatment method: Install a pressure relief valve in front of the water heater inlet or open the outlet.
·It is a normal phenomenon.
·Replace the temperature controller.

Fault 15: The leakage protection indicator light is not on
Reason: · The power pole base has no power or poor contact.
·There is no water in the water heater (or it is not fully filled), the electric heating tube is in a dry burning state, and the reset button of the leakage protection plug jumps to cut off the power supply.
·The water temperature of the water heater is too high, and the reset button of the leakage protection plug jumps, cutting off the power supply.
The water heater has leakage, and the reset button of the leakage protection plug jumps to cut off the power supply.
Handling method: Use an electric pen to check if there is electricity and if the contact between the leakage protection plug and the socket is good.
·First fill the water heater with water according to the instructions, and then press the reset button of the leakage protection plug, even if it can be restored to normal.
·The thermostat is malfunctioning, replace it.
·The electric heating tube is damaged, replace it.
·Use an electric pen to check for electrical leakage. If there is an electrical leakage, use an electric pen to identify the location of the leakage and try to eliminate it
