4. Multi station die - a rated die for stamping workpieces on a stamping production chain using a mechanical arm or other automated facilities with different stamping processes, using molds or parts to move and complete the stamping process.
What are the types of stamping dies?
The classification of stamping molds can generally be simply divided into two types: engineering molds and continuous molds;
Engineering molds can be divided into composite molds, stretching molds, riveting molds, etc. Below is a brief introduction to the structure and function of these molds;
Engineering Model: Also known as a "single process mold", it refers to a mold that can only complete one stamping process in one stroke of stamping. After this project is completed, the product needs to be manually or mechanically removed from the mold, and then placed in the next station's mold to continue production until the next process of the mold is completed, and the entire product is considered complete. This type of mold is easy to maintain, but production is time-consuming and labor-intensive, requiring a significant amount of labor and time costs, resulting in a high product scrap rate.
Composite mold: Common composite mold structures include composite cutting, composite stretching, etc., which are slightly different from other engineering mold structures. The convex mold (also known as the male mold or punch) is designed on the lower mold, and the other templates are sequentially the lower clamp plate (fixed convex mold punch), the lower stop plate, and the lower stripper plate (outer stripper). The upper mold is composed of the female mold (or blade), the inner stripper plate, and the upper cushion plate. The inner stripper is hung on the upper cushion plate using an equal height sleeve, and then supported by a driving rod or spring. For example, in composite molds used for cutting, the internal detachment of the mold is generally 0.50mm from the mother mold, and cannot be lower than the mother mold, otherwise the blade of the mother mold is prone to breakage or failure to detach. The force of internal detachment needs to be strong enough to push the product out of the mother mold. Generally, if the material is relatively thick, we install nitrogen springs on top.
Continuous die, also known as "progressive die," refers to a mold that completes two or more stamping processes simultaneously at different workstations during a single stamping process. This type of mold is difficult to maintain and requires experienced fitters to operate. However, it has high production efficiency and can produce thousands of products in an hour at a fast speed, saving labor and time costs. The product scrap rate is low

(4) A forming die is a mold that directly replicates a rough or semi-finished workpiece into a convex or concave shape according to the drawing, while the material itself only produces local plastic deformation. Such as bulging molds, necking molds, expanding molds, undulating forming molds, flanging molds, shaping molds, etc.
2. Classification based on the degree of process combination
(1) A single process mold is a mold that completes only one stamping process in one stroke of a press.
(2) A composite mold has only one workstation, and in one stroke of the press, it is a mold that completes two or more stamping processes simultaneously on the same workstation.
(3) Progressive die (also known as continuous die) has two or more workstations in the direction of raw material feeding. It is a mold that completes two or more stamping processes on different workstations in one stroke of the press.
