Xanthate method

Zhong Changgeng and others made rice straw xanthate instead of starch to treat chromium containing wastewater. The removal rate of chromium is high and it is easy to meet the discharge standard. The researchers believe that the removal of chromium from rice straw xanthate is the joint action of chromate xanthate and chromium hydroxide through precipitation and adsorption, but chromate xanthate plays a major role. This method has low cost, rapid response, simple operation, and no secondary pollution.

Photocatalytic method

Photocatalysis is a new method that has rapidly developed in recent years in the treatment of organic pollutants in water, especially in the use of semiconductors as catalysts. There have been many reports on the treatment of organic pollutants in water. Using semiconductor oxide (ZnO/TiO2) as a catalyst, electroplating wastewater containing chromium was treated using a solar light source. After 90 minutes of sunlight (1182.5W/m2), hexavalent chromium was reduced to trivalent chromium, and trivalent chromium was removed in the form of chromium hydroxide. The chromium removal rate reached over 99%.
