1.2 Coating Blossom

The occurrence of burrs on the workpiece during electroplating is a common fault. There are many factors that can cause spots, and they need to be treated differently.

(1) Substrate defects, corrosion marks, and the coating formed in these areas will flower, and in severe cases, the coating cannot be formed. This fault cannot be solved by electroplating.

(2) If the oil or rust stains on the workpiece are not removed completely, the coating on these parts will flower, peel off, or fail to form a coating. As long as the oil and rust removal are strengthened, it can be avoided.

(3) After acid etching of the workpiece, if it is not cleaned thoroughly, it will enter the plating tank, and residual acid will remain at the workpiece, causing it to bloom. Strengthening cleaning can eliminate it.

(4) If the workpiece is not cleaned thoroughly after plating, passivation treatment will be carried out. The passivation film on the remaining part of the plating solution is prone to blooming, and strengthening cleaning can remove it.

(5) The additive is undiluted and enters the plating solution without enough time to dissolve and diffuse, resulting in a milky color and causing the coating to bloom. Additives need to be diluted and can be avoided by adding them to the tank with stirring.

(6) The workpiece is hung too tightly, and the coating at the areas where it covers each other lacks brightness, forming a flower like pattern on the positive and negative sides. Reducing the number of workpieces can prevent malfunctions.

(7) The distance between the anode and anode exceeds 300mm, and the power line is distributed within the gap between the two anodes, resulting in a misty white flower like pattern on the positive and negative sides. If the anode spacing is maintained at 300mm, this phenomenon will not occur.

(8) The contact between the anode copper hook and the pole rod is poor, and the local conductive parts of the workpiece are prone to flower formation. Move the anode to conduct electricity and eliminate faults.

(9) If the anode length is not enough, the workpiece exceeds the anode length, and the power line cannot reach the excess, it is also prone to foggy spots.
