(1) Pre processing factors

The adhesion, anti-corrosion performance, and appearance quality between the coating and the substrate are directly related to the quality of the surface treatment of the components before plating. Oil, rust, oxide skin and other pollutants attached to the surface of the parts are intermediate obstacles that hinder the full contact between the electroplating solution and the metal substrate, and it is impossible to form a qualified electroplating layer on this surface. When an extremely thin or even invisible oil film and oxide film are attached to the plated part, although a normal and finely crystallized coating is obtained, the bonding strength is greatly reduced.

Therefore, proper pre-treatment of parts is a prerequisite for achieving good results in the entire electroplating process. Firstly, it is necessary to ensure the concentration and purity of the degreasing and pickling solution, and the floating oil stains in the solution should be cleaned in a timely manner; Secondly, when the impurities in the rust removal solution reach a certain amount, it will affect the quality of the coating, so regular replacement is necessary.

(2) Electroplating solution factors

In electroplating production, various harmful impurities enter the electroplating solution due to various reasons. There are various types of impurities, including metal impurities, metal oxides, non-metallic impurities, and various insoluble suspended solids, organic impurities, etc. The types of impurities contained in various plating solutions vary, and the tolerance level for the same impurity also varies. When one or more harmful impurities accumulate to a certain extent, it will affect the performance of the plating solution and the quality of the coating. Therefore, it is not advisable to wait until the impurities accumulate to cause harm before dealing with electricity

(3) Process condition control factors

The control of process conditions directly affects the quality of electroplating coatings. Only by mastering and controlling the various process conditions of each plating seed can high-quality coatings be obtained. The process conditions such as temperature, current density, pH value, and electroplating time must be matched. If the temperature and current density are not properly matched during hard chromium plating, it has a significant impact on the cathode current efficiency, dispersion ability, coating hardness, and brightness of the chromium plating solution. When the temperature is high, it is necessary to increase the current density appropriately to obtain the required coating. The two constrain each other and change one, while the other factor must follow suit. Therefore, if the process conditions are not well controlled, electroplating quality accidents will occur.
