Heating tube manufacturer: Are 220v and 380v heating tubes interchangeable?

Heating tubes 220V and 380V cannot be used universally. This conclusion is based on several key factors, and the reasons are explained in detail below:

1. Resistance value difference

The resistance value of the electric heating tube is determined according to its rated voltage and power. Once the design is completed, the resistance value of each electric heating tube is fixed. For example, the resistance value of an electric heating tube with a rated voltage of 220V and a power of 1000W can be calculated by the formula "resistance value = voltage²/power", which is 48.4Ω. If the heating tube is connected to a 380V power supply, its actual power will increase significantly, far exceeding its rated power, which may cause damage to the heating tube or cause safety problems. On the contrary, if a heating tube with a rated voltage of 380V is connected to a 220V power supply, its power will drop significantly and may not meet the expected heating needs.

2. Wiring method and power supply matching

In actual applications, the voltage selection of the heating tube needs to be determined according to the user's power supply voltage and wiring method. For 220V heating tubes, 220V power supply is usually connected in parallel; for 380V heating tubes, a single connection to a two-phase 380V power supply may be used, or a triangle connection method may be used to connect to a 380V power supply when multiple heating tubes (3 or multiples of 3) are connected. These different wiring methods ensure that the heating tube can work normally at its rated voltage.

III. Heating effect and safety

The voltage of the heating tube is directly related to the power, and heating tubes with different voltages generate different amounts of heat in the same time. If the two voltages of heating tubes are used interchangeably, it will not only affect the heating effect, but may also cause damage to the equipment or cause safety hazards. For example, a low-voltage heating tube may burn out due to overheating under high voltage, while a high-voltage heating tube may not achieve the expected heating effect under low voltage.
