How to check the working status of gas stove thermocouples?

The thermocouple of a gas stove is one of the important components in a gas stove. Its main function is to detect whether the gas stove has been successfully ignited and provide a continuous flame for the gas stove. Due to long-term use and high temperature effects, gas stove thermocouples are prone to malfunctions, so it is necessary to check the working status of gas stove thermocouples in a timely manner.
1. Observe the ignition of the gas stove
Turn on the ignition switch of the gas stove. If the gas stove can ignite the flame normally and the flame can burn steadily and continuously, it indicates that the gas stove thermocouple is working properly.
2. Check if the flame of the gas stove is even
Set the flame of the gas stove to a small gear and observe if the flame is even. If the flame is bright and uniform without obvious instability, then the gas stove thermocouple is working properly.
3. Contact inspection
Firstly, turn off the gas stove and unplug the power plug. Then open the gas stove panel and locate the thermocouple. Check if the contact between the thermocouple and the ignition spark coil of the gas stove is good. If the contact is poor, gently clamp the thermocouple with small pliers to ensure good contact.
4. Clean the thermocouple
Use a soft bristled brush or cotton swab dipped in a small amount of alcohol or cleaning agent to carefully clean the surface of the gas stove thermocouple, especially the contact points. When cleaning, it should be done gently to avoid damaging the internal structure of the thermocouple.
5. Measure the voltage of the thermocouple
Measure the voltage of the thermocouple using a multimeter. Connect the red probe of the multimeter to the positive pole of the thermocouple and the black probe to the negative pole of the thermocouple. Under normal circumstances, the voltage of the thermocouple should be between 20-30 millivolts. If the voltage exceeds or falls below this range, it indicates that there may be a malfunction in the thermocouple.
6. Professional personnel are required for maintenance
If the above inspections and cleaning operations cannot restore the normal working status of the gas stove thermocouple, it is recommended to find professional gas stove maintenance personnel for maintenance and replacement of the thermocouple. It is not recommended to disassemble and repair on your own, otherwise it may cause more serious safety issues.
In short, checking the working status of the gas stove thermocouple is an important step to ensure the normal use of the gas stove. By observing the ignition situation, checking flame uniformity, conducting contact checks, cleaning thermocouples, measuring voltage, and hiring professionals for maintenance, it is possible to promptly determine whether the gas stove thermocouple is working properly and take corresponding measures for maintenance and replacement.
