How to Choose Suitable Wire Diameter for Hot Runner Thermocouple Compensation Wire

Signal transmission efficiency, anti-interference performance, and service life are all strongly impacted by the thermocouple compensation wire's wire core diameter. A sensible choice must be made in conjunction with the actual wiring distance and working environment.

Thin-diameter compensating wires are ideal for short-distance wiring within molds and tight wiring grooves because of their smooth texture, flexible wiring layout, and ease of bending. They are easy to route in small hot runner setups and take up little room. However, tiny wires are not suitable for long-distance transmission due to their low current carrying capacity, significant signal loss, and vulnerability to core fracture after repeated bending.

The most often used general specification, medium-diameter wires balance signal stability with flexibility. With wiring lengths of hardly more than fifteen meters, they are extensively utilized in the majority of traditional hot runner equipment. They can completely satisfy the daily production temperature feedback requirements due to their consistent signal transmission, moderate tensile resistance, and low comprehensive failure rate.

Thickened internal wire cores, robust tensile resistance, minimal signal attenuation, and superior stability are characteristics of thick-diameter heavy-duty compensating wires. They are specifically utilized in large factories with strong electromagnetic interference sites, multi-cavity combined hot runners, and extremely lengthy wiring distances. Their rough texture, challenging bending, and more challenging laying are their drawbacks.

Verify the real wiring length before beginning any practical matching. Choose thin flexible wires within five meters; use regular medium-diameter wires between five and fifteen meters; and use thickened anti-attenuation wires beyond fifteen meters. In the meanwhile, larger wire diameters are preferred in high-temperature and vibration-prone locations to lower the risk of fracture and guaranty full and lossless transfer of temperature information.
