How to connect thermal resistance and thermocouple instruments to modules

1. Thermal resistance and thermocouple instruments
Thermal resistance devices (RTDs) and thermocouples are common temperature sensors widely used in industrial automation control to measure temperature in environments. The principle of temperature measurement is different between thermistors and thermocouples, so the method of connecting the instrument module is also different.

2. Connection method of thermal resistance
The connection method of thermal resistance is relatively simple. Firstly, connect the pin interface of the thermal resistor head to the corresponding socket of the instrument module, ensuring that the pin interface corresponds one-to-one with the pins of the socket. Then, according to the type of thermal resistance (such as platinum thermal resistance, copper thermal resistance, etc.), choose the appropriate connection method. Normally, a three wire method is used for connection, which involves connecting the two leads of the thermal resistor to the corresponding pins of the instrument module, while the third lead is connected to the ground wire.

3. Connection method of thermocouple
The method of connecting thermocouples is slightly more complex. Firstly, determine the type of thermocouple (such as K-type thermocouple, J-type thermocouple, etc.) and select the corresponding instrument module. Then, choose the appropriate connection method based on the type of thermocouple. Usually, a two wire method is used for connection, which involves connecting the two leads of the thermocouple to the corresponding pins of the instrument module.

4. Wiring methods for instrument modules
The method of connecting both thermal resistors and thermocouples to the instrument module is crucial. The correct wiring method can ensure accurate measurement and transmission of temperature, while incorrect wiring methods may lead to errors or inability to transmit temperature data. Therefore, before connecting to the instrument module, it is necessary to carefully read the instruction manual of the instrument module and operate according to the wiring method provided in the manual.

Thermistors and thermocouples are common temperature sensors, and their methods of connecting to instrument modules are slightly different. Thermal resistors are usually wired using the three wire method, while thermocouples are wired using the two wire method. The correct wiring method can ensure the accurate transmission of temperature data, so before connecting to the instrument module, it is necessary to carefully read the manual and follow the requirements for wiring.
