How to handle color-changing silica gel contamination

When the color-changing silica gel is contaminated, according to the degree of contamination, cleaning or replacement should be tried, especially when used for precision equipment, food or pharmaceutical protection, where safety is most important.

1. Lightly soiled: Cleaning may be tried to make it as it was. Suitable for dust, light oil stains, or environmental contact only:

(1) Water-rinsing method

Operation: Rinse the silica gel particles several times with running water to remove the surface residue;

Follow-up treatment: Spread them flat in a heat-resistant container after washing and bake at 100-120℃ for 1-2 hours to dry thoroughly;

Judgement criteria: After heating, the colour must be totally restored (blue→blue, orange→orange) and no odour.
