How to Properly Clean a Hot Runner Sensor

Depending on the situation, there are two forms of proper cleaning: extensive disassembly cleaning and routine basic cleaning. The fundamental idea is to protect the detecting diaphragm from harm:
I. Regular Simple Cleaning: This takes about five minutes and is done every time the mold is disassembled. Preventing material buildup and suitable for regular maintenance with minimal drift:
Using a fresh copper brush, carefully remove any loose material from the sensor head surface once the hot runner has cooled;
To get rid of any last bits of debris, gently wipe the diaphragm's surface with a lint-free cloth soaked with a tiny bit of anhydrous alcohol;
Reassemble immediately after drying; neither disassembly nor polishing are necessary.
II. Deep Disassembly and Cleaning (done to address corrosion and material accumulation once drift develops) This process is used after processing corrosive materials or when zero-point drift has already happened:
Rough Cleaning: Take out the sensor once it has cooled completely. After removing large bits of collected material with a brush, use anhydrous alcohol to clean the entire surface.
Fine Film Cleaning: Use a soft copper sheet (do not use a hard steel sheet) to gently scrape away hardened deposits. Do not poke or damage the film; instead, apply mild pressure and scrape down the flat surface. Use 800-grit or finer metallographic sandpaper (the finer the better) to lightly polish small oxide deposits. After that, use alcohol to rinse away the sandpaper residue and pat dry.
Sealing Inspection: Examine the sealing ring following cleaning. To stop leaks following reassembly, replace the sealing ring right away if there are any indications of aging or cracking.
Reassembly and Calibration: After the temperature stabilizes, recalibrate the zero point, tighten the sensor back into its mounting position to the required torque, and apply a tiny bit of high-temperature sealing oil.
Calibration and Reassembly:
No Cleaning Permitted; Do Not Touch at All
The diaphragm can be readily damaged and made inaccurate by using wire brushes or harsh screwdrivers to scratch it;
Strong acid or alkali cleaners will damage the diaphragm and seals, hastening the aging process.
Avoid spraying the sensor's tail with a high-pressure water cannon since this will allow water to enter and harm the internal circuitry.
