Is plastic injection molding a good business?

Plastic injection molding is expending at a very rapid rate. It seems that most every thing is now being made of plastics, and injection molding is the best, most cost effective way of manufacturing these types of parts.

You do need to beware of your market area, and it’s ever shifting demands, or lack of demand.

I have one customer on the Central Coast of California, that lost a rather large contract to a Chinese firm. The thing will have to be settled in court, but that’s not going to help him in the present. Maybe in 5 of 10 years.

So I’m trying to find him another product to mold. We had to modify his equipment quite a bit, but now he is at least turning a profit again.

It’s not the kind of work he wanted, but what the HELL it pays the bills, and keeps his guys employed !!!

Both of us have taken a lot of kidding for his decision, and mine for introducing him to the client.

This is a very competitive field, and new processes are being developed every day, Keep informed, and stay in contact with all the changes going on in the industry.
