Principles for coil selection of electromagnetic induction heaters

For the entire set of electromagnetic heaters, the role of the coil is the most core function - heating, which is also the significance of the development of electromagnetic heating as a product application. If an electromagnetic heating product cannot be heated or has poor heating effect due to poor coil winding, it is equivalent to building a house but cannot live, building a car but cannot drive, making a plate of delicious food but cannot eat, and it has no meaning.

Since the coil is so important, how should we select the coil?

Three aspects should be considered - the wire itself, coil winding, and applicability to the site.

1、 Wire itself

There are many types of wire itself, such as high-frequency wire, mica wire, waterproof wire, silicone wire, nickel plated wire, pure nickel wire, copper tube, alloy wire, etc. Different types of wire are suitable for different occasions, and should be carefully inquired before purchasing.

In addition, when selecting a coil, consideration should also be given to its wire diameter, material, temperature and pressure resistance. These are also determined by their usage conditions. In the actual selection process, the required equipment power should be determined first based on the heating demand, and then the output current value can be known, and the wire diameter and material can be determined. Then, the temperature resistance performance should be considered based on the temperature and heat dissipation conditions on site. If these factors are not taken into account when selecting coils, it is easy to encounter equipment failures, such as burnt coils, low heating efficiency, and non durable coils. At a mild level, it can affect production, and at a severe level, it can cause personal accidents.

2、 Coil winding

On the surface, the work of winding coils seems to have the least technical content. Isn't it just about winding the wires to form a coil? Who wouldn't know that?

But in reality, it is not that simple. The winding of the coil needs to consider factors such as stacking, interference, heat dissipation, distance, and sensitivity matching.

The required coil inductance of electromagnetic heaters with different powers varies. Only by maintaining the actual inductance and theoretical value can the maximum power of the electromagnetic heater be ensured. For example, a 30KW electromagnetic heater has a theoretical inductance of 240 μ H. When winding the coil, only the actual inductance is 240 μ It is only around H that its power can fully reach the rated value. If the actual sensitivity is 100 μ H、150 μ H、300 μ H、400 μ H. The actual usage power of this device may only be 20KW, 15KW, or even unable to work properly or start at all.

3、 Applicable on-site

The widespread application of electromagnetic heaters determines the complexity of their on-site usage. In the numerous fields of use of electromagnetic heaters, such as food, plastics, chemicals, printing, heating, and waste treatment, the application scenarios of each industry are different. Even within the same industry, there are significant differences in the usage sites of each customer. Therefore, electromagnetic coils do not have universal applicability and are non-standard accessories with different winding methods for different usage scenarios.

Given this characteristic of the coil, when selecting the coil, it is important to first understand your application situation, so as not to encounter problems such as being unusable after purchase, low power and impractical, excessive power consumption and energy conservation, and high usage costs that do not meet the product description.
