Silicone heaters can be mounted in a variety of ways, including direct adhesive, screw holes, straps, snaps, buttons, and press-fit. Choosing the appropriate method depends on the shape, size, space, and application environment of the silicone heater. Each silicone heater mounting method has its own unique style and application characteristics, summarized below. You can refer to each style and select the appropriate mounting method based on the specific application.
PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive or double-sided pressure-sensitive tape) mounting method: PSA pressure-sensitive adhesive is easy to install, but the adhesive type and required strength must be specified. The PSA mounting method for silicone heaters is simple to install: simply remove the protective liner and apply. It adheres to most clean, smooth surfaces. Ensure a smooth, consistent, and even bond during installation for optimal results. Maximum Application Temperature: Continuous – 300°F (149°C) Intermittent – 500°F (260°C) Recommended Watt Density: Less than 5 W/in² (0.78 W/cm²) PSA can be installed with a reinforced coating of aluminum foil vulcanized on the back of the heater before applying the PSA to increase heat dissipation.
To achieve the expected lifespan of silicone heaters, proper installation is essential. Regardless of the installation technique used, avoid trapping air bubbles under the heater; air bubbles can cause overheating in the area of the heater bubble and potentially premature heater failure. Use a rubber roller on the silicone heater surface to ensure good adhesion.
Factory-Cure Press-Fit Installation
Silicone heaters can also be installed by factory-cured pressing onto bare or anodized aluminum, stainless steel, marble, or other hard surfaces for a permanent bond and excellent heat transfer.
The uncured silicone rubber heater is placed on the metal part and then placed in a vacuum oven, where it cures and adheres to the part in a single operation. Because the silicone rubber flows into and fills the microstructure of the metal surface, this process forms an extremely strong, permanent bond with most metals. The metal components can be fabricated by the supplier or provided by the customer.
Magnetic Mounting
Silicone Heater Mounting Options: Magnetic mounting is available, attaching a flexible magnetic material to the back of the silicone rubber flexible heater. Magnetic mounting supports a wide variety of steels. It's ideal for situations where you need to "lose" some heat!
Maximum Temperature: 200°F / 93°C
Maximum Watt Density: 1 W/in² (0.16 W/cm²)
Maximum Width: 24″ (610 mm)
Punch-Screw Clamp Mounting
The silicone heater can be applied by screw clamping or compression between two rigid materials. The plate surface must be ground fairly smooth.
Care must be taken not to damage the heater or puncture the insulation. Mill an area or cutout in the top plate to increase the thickness of the lead exit area.
Recommended Maximum Pressure: 40 PSI
For increased durability, the space provided for the heater installation should be the same thickness as the heater.
D-Ring and Shoulder Strap Mounting
D-Ring and Shoulder Strap Mounting
For everyday applications, the D-Ring and Shoulder Strap mounting method can be used in applications where the silicone heater must be separated from the cylindrical component due to mechanical fasteners.

Press-button mounting
The press-button mounting method can be used in applications where the silicone heater must be separated from the cylindrical component by mechanical fasteners.
This method is easy to install and remove. High precision is required; the snaps must be positioned and held at just the right height; looser fit will compromise heating effectiveness.
Outer Diameter Composite Mounting
This technique allows for permanent mounting of silicone rubber heaters to the outer diameter of pipes and medium-sized containers. This technique is particularly useful for pipes, heated drums, and air or gas heating.
Minimum diameter: 0.5" (12.7 mm)
Maximum diameter: 6" (152.4 mm)
Maximum length: 20" (508.0 mm)
The flexible heater must be removable from the cylindrical component.
3D Overlay Mounting
Depending on the specific application, the silicone heater can be vulcanized to fit the molded contour. This technique is particularly useful for wrapping silicone rubber heaters around pipes or small containers. Due to the unique characteristics of the heating cover, custom tools or specialized forms may be required.
Silicone Heater Installation: The appropriate silicone heater installation method should be selected based on the heater's shape, size, space, and application environment. Heaters are custom-made products, so please communicate your requirements or provide a detailed description of your needs during customization.
