The quality of the copper used in the heater's sheath has a direct effect on how well it conducts heat, how long it lasts, and how long it may be used. Copper cartridge heaters with low purity may be cheaper at first, but they don't always heat up quickly or reliably, which are the two things that make copper cartridge heaters useful.
