According to the different types of infiltrating elements, organic chemical heat treatment can be divided into four methods: nitriding, high-frequency quenching, cyanide, and metal infiltration material method.

High frequency quenching: also known as nitriding, is the entire process of nitrogen atoms infiltrating the surface layer of steel. Its significance is to enhance the strength and wear resistance of the surface layer, as well as to enhance its fatigue limit and corrosion resistance. At present, the high-frequency quenching method is used in production and manufacturing.

Nitriding: Nitriding is the entire process of instigating oxygen atoms to penetrate into the surface layer of steel. It also endows high carbon steel workpieces with the surface layer of medium carbon steel, and through heat treatment and ultra-low temperature quenching, the surface layer of the workpiece has high toughness and wear resistance, while the core part of the workpiece still maintains the ductility and plastic deformation of high carbon steel.
