The structure and characteristics of compensation wire

Compensation wire, usually composed of compensation wire alloy wire, insulation layer, sheath and shielding layer, is an indispensable part of the thermocouple temperature measurement system. It has the same nominal value as the thermoelectric potential of the matched thermocouple within a certain temperature range, so that it can connect the thermocouple and the measuring device to compensate for the error caused by the temperature change at the connection.

Compensation wires are mainly divided into two types: extended type and compensation type. The nominal chemical composition and nominal value of the thermoelectric potential of the alloy wire of the extended compensation wire are the same as those of the matched thermocouple, and the letter "X" is added after the thermocouple graduation number to indicate, such as "KX" for extended compensation wire for K-type thermocouple. The nominal chemical composition of the alloy wire of the compensation compensation wire is different from that of the matched thermocouple, but its thermoelectric potential value is the same as the nominal value of the thermoelectric potential of the matched thermocouple at 0-100℃ or 0-200℃, and the letter "C" is added after the thermocouple graduation number to indicate, such as "KC".

Compensation wires have many characteristics. First, it can improve the physical and mechanical properties of the thermocouple temperature measurement circuit, increase the flexibility of the circuit, make wiring more convenient, and adjust the circuit resistance or shield external interference. Secondly, it can reduce the cost of the measurement line, especially when the thermocouple is far away from the measuring device, the use of compensation wire can save a lot of thermocouple materials, and the economic benefits are significant. In addition, the compensation wire also has certain heat resistance, moisture resistance, low temperature winding and other properties, and can work stably in various harsh environments.
