This article will show you what fluoroplastic tubes are, and what types and applications they have.

I. Introduction to Fluoroplastic Tubing

Fluoroplastic tubing is made from fluoroplastics and features excellent weather and heat resistance. Due to its unique properties, this type of tubing is widely used in various fields. Its key features include high-temperature resistance and strong chemical resistance, making it capable of withstanding the erosion of various complex media.

II. Main Types of Fluoroplastic Tubing

Dankai fluoroplastic tubing is divided into several types based on the raw material used. The most common types are PTFE, PFA, FEP, and PVDF. Each type has its own unique performance and application focus.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), known as the "King of Plastics," is the most widely used type. Its chemical resistance, high-temperature resistance, and non-stick properties are world-class, but it can be difficult to process. It is often used to transport highly corrosive media, such as in chemical reactors and semiconductor cleaning equipment.

Fusible polytetrafluoroethylene (PFA), an improvement on PTFE, offers a temperature range of -80°C to 260°C, excellent melt flowability, and ease of processing. Its high transparency facilitates fluid observation and is suitable for transporting high-purity reagents and medical equipment.

Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) is similar to PFA, but has a slightly lower temperature resistance (200°C) and is less expensive. It is primarily used for wire and cable sheathing and for transporting corrosive liquids.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) offers high mechanical strength, a maximum temperature resistance of 150°C, and excellent UV resistance. It is commonly used for corrosion-resistant pipes in sewage treatment and the photovoltaic industry.

III. Fluoroplastic Pipe Production Process

Different types of fluoroplastics have different processing properties, and the appropriate material should be selected based on specific needs. For example, PTFE is a non-meltable fluororesin, and PTFE tubing is typically produced by molding or extrusion followed by sintering. FEP and PFA are meltable fluororesins and can be extruded at high temperatures.

IV. Applications of Fluoroplastic Tubing

Fluoroplastic tubing can be found in pipelines for transporting high-purity chemicals and highly corrosive media, laboratory peristaltic pump tubing, heat exchanger tube bundles, automotive fuel and steam pipes, ultrapure water systems in semiconductor plants, medical catheters, 3D printing consumables, and even the final stage of household water purifiers. In the aerospace industry, it is used as a flexible connection in hydraulic and fuel systems, and is significantly lighter than metal bellows.
