What are thermocouples/thermal resistors used in nuclear power plants?
Leave a message
As the name implies, the special thermocouple/thermal resistor for nuclear power plants is a special thermocouple designed and produced with full consideration of the actual use of nuclear power plants.
Thermocouples for nuclear power plants have the following characteristics:
1. High stability
Due to the particularity of nuclear power plants, generally speaking, they will not be shut down easily. Once they are shut down, the losses are relatively large; if the thermocouple/thermal resistor is not stable enough and the quality is not good enough,
it may be necessary to shut down for maintenance due to temperature alarm or circuit breaker, which will cause great losses; therefore, the thermocouple/thermal resistor of nuclear power plants must be quite stable.
2. Corrosion resistance
Some temperature measurement areas of nuclear power plants are open-air. As we all know, nuclear power plants are generally located along the coast. The sea breeze is more corrosive and can easily corrode thermocouples/thermal resistors.
3. Radiation resistance
Nuclear power plants will have a certain degree of radiation. If the thermocouple is not resistant to radiation, it is easy to cause damage to the thermocouple/thermal resistor or inaccurate temperature measurement.
4. Fast response speed
Nuclear power plant reactors generally have high requirements for temperature response, and among all the cheap metal thermocouples currently on the market, the E-type thermocouple has the fastest response speed;
Generally, nuclear power plants will choose E-type thermocouples.
Nuclear power-specific thermal resistors will also use resistor cores with less thermal inertia to improve response speed.
