What characteristics should the insulation material of the open hot runner system have?

The insulation materials of open hot runner systems should have the following characteristics:
Low thermal conductivity: This is the key characteristic of insulation materials. Low thermal conductivity can effectively reduce the heat loss of the hot runner system to the surrounding environment, keep the system temperature stable, and reduce energy consumption. For example, materials such as ceramic fiber and aerogel have low thermal conductivity and good insulation effect.
High high temperature resistance: The operating temperature of the hot runner system is usually 150-350℃. The insulation materials need to maintain stable performance at this high temperature without deformation, melting, decomposition, etc. For example, rock wool, glass fiber, etc. can maintain good stability at the corresponding high temperature.
Good chemical stability: The insulation materials should be able to resist the erosion of plastic melts, additives and other chemicals in the hot runner system, and not react chemically with them to avoid affecting product quality and the normal operation of the hot runner system.
Certain mechanical properties: The insulation materials should have sufficient mechanical strength and flexibility to withstand the installation stress, vibration, thermal expansion and contraction of the hot runner system, and should not be easily broken or damaged, so as to facilitate installation and use.
Good insulation performance: In order to prevent safety accidents such as leakage of heating elements in the hot runner system, the insulation material needs to have good insulation performance to ensure the safety of operators and the normal operation of equipment.
Anti-aging: In long-term high temperature environment and complex production conditions, the insulation material should have good anti-aging performance, be able to maintain its insulation and physical properties for a long time, reduce replacement frequency, and reduce maintenance costs.
Environmental protection and non-toxicity: The insulation material should meet environmental protection requirements, not release harmful gases and substances, ensure the safety of the production environment, and have no harm to the health of operators, especially in industries with high environmental protection requirements such as food and medical.
Good processability: The insulation material should be easy to process into various shapes and sizes to adapt to the complex structures of different parts of the hot runner system, facilitate installation and fitting, and improve installation efficiency and insulation effect.
