The heating wire forms austenite when it is heated, and according to different purposes, it is slowly or quickly cooled from high temperature to make it transform.

 

When austenite transforms at different temperatures, its transformation products are not the same, and the properties are also very different.

 

Slow cooling obtains a mixture of cementite and ferrite-pearlite; while rapid cooling obtains martensite, while austenite has no hardness, while martensite has hardness. The result of heat treatment and quenching is the martensite structure.
