BARI SHIP is a professional maritime exhibition providing shipbuilding technology, ship equipment and other related products and services for the shipbuilding industry. The maritime exhibition was held with the support of the Ministry of Land and Communications, the Japan Shipowners Association, the General Association of the Japan Inland Shipping Association, the Japan Shipbuilding Industry Association, the Japan Small and Medium Shipbuilding Industry Association, the Japan Shipbuilding Export Association, the Japan Shipbuilding Industry Association and the Japan Maritime Association, as well as the special support of the Tokyo Maritime Metropolitan Exchange Committee.
Toji is the most prosperous city in Japan's shipbuilding, shipping and ship-related industries. It is regarded as a maritime important place in Japan. There are 70 ocean shipping companies, 210 inland shipping companies, 14 shipyards, and 160 ship equipment manufacturers, all of which rank first in Japan. Among them, the number of owners of ocean-going ships is comparable with Hong Kong and Piraeus ports in Greece in the world. In addition, the independent shipowners based in Imji and nearby Ehime County have 830 ships, accounting for about one third of the total number of Japanese ocean-going merchant fleet. Every year, one third of the ships built in Japan are built by the shipbuilding company with Toji as its headquarters. Around the shipyard is a large number of maritime related institutions, with about 10000 people gathered to work in the largest maritime city in Japan. In order to support the development of the shipbuilding industry, the Japanese government has cooperated with relevant government agencies to carry out the revitalization of shipbuilding activities in Toji City, where Japanese shipbuilding enterprises are most concentrated.
