Can Color-Changing Silica Gel Restore Its Original State After Regeneration?

Color-changing silica gel may typically be reactivated to its original form, unless it's been irreparably compromised by age, infection or mishandling. When the regeneration is completed appropriately, it can return to the original colour, dryness and adsorption function.

 

1. Recoverable Performance (After Normal Regeneration)

Colour Restoration: Blue silica gel: from pink/red to deep blue ; orange silica gel: from dark green/green to bright orange with uniform colour .

Physical State: Granules are dry, free-flowing, free of lumps. Granules feel light, free of tackiness to touch.

Normal Function: It can gently change colour when placed in humid conditions and can absorb moisture continuously.

Main Conditions: Regeneration temperature at 100-120℃, enough duration (1-2 hours), sealed storage after cooling within 5 minutes.

Measured Data: During the normal operation, the performance may be recovered more than 90% in the first 3~5 times of regeneration, and the performance steadily decreases after 5 times of regeneration.

 

3. How to judge whether it has really "restored to its original state"?

(1) Inspection with the Eye

Is the colour homogeneous and rich? No mottled patches or dark regions or leftover pink;

Are the particles firm and intact? There was not a lot of powder or dirt. (2) Functional Test: Place in a sealed food storage container with a damp cloth. After 24 hours the colour changes gently - normal function. "It is effective for moisture retention if it doesn't change colour after being placed with a camera and medicine for a week."

Practical Recommendation: To protect valuable things from moisture, it is recommended to replace the device every 1 year or after 5 regeneration cycles to provide reliable protection.
