How to Quickly Cool Regenerated Color-Changing Silicone
Leave a message
Re-activate color-changing silicone and allow to cool naturally. Putting it into the oven for 30-60 min will cool it fast and safely without damaging the microporous structure and without particle fracture due to sudden cooling.
1. Best cooling technique: Oven Natural Cooling
Procedures to be followed:
After baking, turn off the power of the oven;
Close the oven door and allow the silicone to sit in a sealed area for 30-60 minutes;
Remove at room temperature within 5 minutes and refrigerate for storage.
Benefits: Even cooling, no temperature shock, maintains the structural integrity of the silicone.
2. Why Not Use Forced Rapid Cooling? Description of risk
Micropore Collapse Rapid cooling may cause the non-uniform shrinkage of the silica framework and rupture or collapse of some micropores.
Particle Cracking: The surface of the particles might break due to excessive temperature differentials, which decreases the adsorption efficiency.
Performance degradation: The structural damage immediately impacts the absorption capacity to moisture and the number of regeneration cycles.
Experience Tips: Due to forced air flow or cold water cooling, the performance may be reduced by 10-15% after the first regeneration.
3. Post-Cooling Procedures – Seal Immediately to Prevent Moisture: Silica gel absorbs moisture from the air easily, even when cooled.
For moisture isolation, we suggest food storage containers with sealing strips or aluminium foil self-sealing bags. "To help dry and to extend the effective time, a little new desiccant can be put in the container.
Practical Tips: Write down the "Regeneration Date" and "Number of Cycles" to easily track the longevity.
