Ceramic Insulated Band Heaters Custom Ceramic Band Heaters

Ceramic-insulated band heaters are suitable for high-temperature applications exceeding 450°C, such as pipe heating in process heat technology, especially when gases are involved. Ceramic-insulated flat heating elements are also used where heat storage capacity is required, such as with hot plates.

The heating surface of a ceramic flat heater consists of small ceramic elements with aligned holes in the center for the resistance coil. Ceramic segmented heating mats are also suitable for curved or cylindrical surfaces.

An upgraded heating element from ceramic heaters, ceramic band heaters, like insulated flat heating elements, can accept a metal sheath. This provides additional mechanical load protection and allows for connection to a terminal box. Another advantage is the ease of installation through mounting holes in the metal sheath. This ensures uniform and secure contact with the heated surface, ensuring optimal heat transfer. Using an insulating material as an intermediate layer between the ceramic heating element and the metal sheath reduces backward radiation losses, further optimizing the high energy efficiency of metal-sheathed ceramic flat heating elements.

Ceramic band heaters
For ceramic segmented heating mats designed as cylindrical or frame structures, a metal sheath is mandatory. Cylindrical ceramic segmented heaters, also known as ceramic ring heaters or ceramic ribbon heaters, are secured to the contact surface by a clamping mechanism. A preferred application area for ceramic ribbon heaters is heating the plasticizing cylinders, bushings, and nozzles of injection molding machines, as well as the screw barrels of extruders. For thermal optimization and process control, ceramic ribbon heaters can also be supplied with an insulating jacket or air cooling.

Applications of ceramic ribbon heaters:

For heating molds, dies, hopper nozzles, and especially the plasticizing cylinders (barrels) of injection molding machines and extruders.

Ceramic ribbon heaters are the ideal solution for heating cylindrical surfaces.
