Electric heating tape is used in gas pipelines

When winter temperatures drop below 0°C, gas pipelines are prone to freezing and blockage due to water accumulation, causing gas outages. Residents are unable to cook, and businesses are affected. Traditional insulation methods are insufficient to withstand the severe cold. However, the application of electric heating tape in gas pipelines can stably control the temperature even at extreme low temperatures of -30°C. Residential communities using heating tape for gas pipelines say goodbye to the hassle of gas outages. In previous winters, outdoor gas branch pipes in a northern community often froze and blocked due to temperatures as low as -20°C, causing gas outages at least once a week for residents, forcing them to rely on takeout. Last autumn, the property management installed self-regulating electric heating tape on all outdoor gas pipelines in the community. The tape automatically maintains the pipeline temperature at 5-8°C. Even during a -30°C cold snap in December, the gas supply to all 2,000+ households in the community remained uninterrupted. Resident Aunt Wang said, "Before, I was afraid of gas outages in winter, but now I can cook anytime. The heat tracing system is a huge help." The heat tracing system also features a flame-retardant insulation layer, preventing heat loss and eliminating safety hazards, meeting the safety needs of residents.


In a commercial street, heat tracing is used for gas pipelines, ensuring uninterrupted business operations. In a commercial street in southern China, the gas pipelines of restaurants are mostly laid along the exterior walls. In winter, the pipelines freeze and become blocked, causing businesses to close and losing thousands of yuan a day. Before last winter, the commercial street uniformly installed electric heat tracing systems, using weather-resistant models that can withstand rain and cold winds. When a cold wave hit in January, with temperatures dropping to -5℃, the pipelines, which would normally freeze, remained at a stable temperature of 6℃ thanks to the heat tracing system, allowing more than 20 restaurants to operate normally. Hot pot restaurant owner Mr. Li said, "Before, freezing in winter meant closing the shop while waiting for repairs. This year, with the heat tracing system installed, our business wasn't affected at all."


Heat tracing is also used for gas pipelines in suburban and rural areas, solving the problem of "difficulty in preventing freezing in remote areas." Rural gas pipelines are often laid outdoors along field ridges and hillsides, making maintenance inconvenient. If they freeze and become blocked, residents may be without gas for days. In a rural village in Northeast China, electric heat tracing was installed on the main gas pipeline last year. The heat tracing system uses an underground design with an outer anti-corrosion sleeve, adapting to the complex rural terrain. Even when winter temperatures drop to -28℃, the pipeline temperature remains consistently at 7℃, eliminating the need for villagers to rely on coal stoves for heating or firewood for cooking. The village secretary said, "Before, coordinating repairs in winter was incredibly difficult. After installing heat tracing, the gas supply is very stable, and the villagers are all satisfied."

Industrial plants also use heat tracing for their gas pipelines, ensuring continuous production. A chemical industrial park's gas pipeline supplies fuel to more than ten factories. Freezing and blockage in winter would cause factory shutdowns. The park uses explosion-proof electric heat tracing, paired with an intelligent temperature control system, to monitor the pipeline temperature in real time. Heating automatically starts when the temperature drops below 3℃ and stops when it reaches 10℃. Last winter, the industrial park experienced temperatures as low as -25°C. The heating tape kept the pipeline temperature stable at 8°C, ensuring uninterrupted factory production and reducing losses due to freezing by over one million yuan compared to previous years.

Electric heating tape is suitable for gas pipelines in various settings, including residential, commercial, rural, and industrial areas. Even in extreme temperatures of -30°C, it can maintain stable temperature control and prevent freezing. It solves the problems of gas outages for residents cooking and business disruptions, while also ensuring industrial production, providing a reliable guarantee for a stable gas supply during winter.
