Explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant electric heating cables are preferred in humid environments

Electric heating and insulation products have a wide range of applications. Besides insulating pipes in ordinary areas, flammable, explosive, and corrosive areas, electric heating cables are also suitable for insulating pipelines in humid environments. For example, they can be used to insulate outdoor fire protection pipelines and outdoor water lines. Compared to ordinary pipe insulation, the use of electric heating cables for humid environments requires consideration of waterproofing and insulation. For humid areas, it is recommended to choose electric heating cables that are insulated, waterproof, and have high mechanical properties.

For example, consider self-limiting electric heating cables with explosion-proof or explosion-proof corrosion-resistant properties. The outer sheath of explosion-proof protective electric heating cables is made of polyolefin, offering high safety, waterproof insulation, and mechanical strength. Alternatively, the outer sheath of explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant self-limiting electric heating cables is made of fluoroplastic, offering excellent corrosion resistance and performance, making them suitable for pipe insulation in humid areas. Explosion-proof protective self-regulating electric heating cables effectively isolate the internal core from the outside world, preventing erosion by moisture and rain. In addition, mold can easily grow in some humid areas, corroding the outer sheath of the electric heating cable. In this case, choose a fluoroplastic-sheathed electric heating cable, which is corrosion-resistant, has a long service life, and offers excellent performance in humid environments.

Precautions for installing electric heating cables in humid areas:

1. The power supply for the electric heating cable must be equipped with a leakage protection device, preferably an explosion-proof one. Leakage current can easily occur in humid environments if waterproofing measures are not properly implemented. To avoid this risk, safety features must be implemented in the power supply.

2. Use a waterproof junction box for wiring. Avoid using non-waterproof insulating tape or loose wiring methods that could cause the cable to fall off. When using a junction box, do not leave the terminals facing upward to prevent rain from seeping in. Use sealant (also known as 703 silicone) to secure the junction box during installation. This sealant is waterproof and anti-aging.

3. For outdoor humid areas, waterproofing must be added to the exterior insulation to prevent the heating cable from being heated in low temperatures for extended periods, which can shorten the product's lifespan.

4. After the electric heating system is installed, attach a warning label to the pipe where the heating cable is installed.
