How Long Does it Take for RC Parameters to Recover After Locking?

I. Hardware Physical Latching Scenario Without any Software Locking
Under normal operating settings the RC parameter lock state can stay locked for 6 to 12 months without automatically being released and will not automatically return to a changeable state.
The lock state shall be removed promptly after the completion of any maintenance activity such as system firmware upgrade or factory reset, and the RC parameters shall automatically return to the factory default customisable state.
If the power is down for a long time (over 30 days), some older thermostat models may lose data in the underlying registers and this can cause the lock state to automatically release unexpectedly.
II. Software Latching & Hardware DIP Switch Locking at the Same Time Scenario
It has been shown that the RC parameter lock state can be locked for more than 3 years under typical working conditions, and will not automatically recover without external intervention.
The RC parameters cannot be changed until the physical DIP switch is manually switched from the locked to the unlocked position and the administrator password is entered simultaneously to unlock the software latch in the system.
Automatic recovery is impossible in this case and all state transitions must be intervened manually.
III. Unexpected Recovery Scenarios under Abnormal Operating Conditions
A significant electromagnetic pulse impact in the workshop could cause a hardware reset of the temperature controller, unlocking the state in seconds and immediately returning the RC settings to the adjustable factory default state.
The temperature controller hardware may suffer a power module failure that can corrupt data in the non-volatile storage partition, which can result in the loss of the lock indicator and the RC parameters reverting back to a changeable state.
