How to calculate and determine the power of electric heating tubes

Someone asked, what kind of heater does an electric heating tube belong to? In fact, an electric heating tube heats the air flow we need from the initial temperature to the desired air temperature. With the demand for desulfurization projects in large power plants, the power of electric heating tubes has increased, some reaching over 400KW. Electricity consumption is high, and work costs are high. The following aspects should be considered to minimize power consumption.

(1) Reasonably describe the air volume and temperature rise. The power of an air electric heater is determined based on the calculation of air volume and temperature rise. On the premise that the air volume and temperature rise meet the requirements, it is not advisable to choose excessive air volume and temperature rise, as excessive air volume and temperature rise directly lead to excessive power of the heater and increase energy consumption. Excessive air volume and temperature rise are unnecessary. To summarize and consider, describe reasonably, and determine appropriate parameters.

(2) The surface of the air electric heater should be insulated. Most power plants (owners) only insulate the pipes at the outlet of the air electric heater when using it, without any insulation treatment on the surface of the electric heater itself. According to the data, adding an insulation layer on the surface of the electric heater can reduce energy consumption by 5% to 10%. If the energy consumption saved after long-term operation is considerable, the power plant (owner) should install an insulation layer on the air electric heater along with the pipeline.

(3) Drop the pressure of the air electric heater itself. When the air that needs to be heated flows through the interior of the air electric heater, there will be pressure loss. The greater the pressure loss, the greater the energy consumption of the fan. Therefore, the layout of the air electric heater itself should be improved and innovated to reduce the pressure generated.

The commonly used resistance wire materials in electric heating tubes include Fe Cr Al and Cr20Ni80 resistance wires. KAWAI uses 0Cr25Al5 grade iron chromium wire, which has a higher melting point than ordinary iron chromium wire and better service life. The primary difference between the two types of resistance wires is that the melting point of 0Cr25Al5 is higher than that of Cr20Ni80, but at higher temperatures, 0Cr25Al5 is easier to oxidize, while Cr20Ni80 can maintain stable functionality at high temperatures. Therefore, resistance wires used in high-temperature conditions generally use Cr20Ni80.
