How to ensure the stability of thermocouples

Thermocouples, as a very important sensor, have a good reputation in the measurement industry and are widely used. However, did everyone pay attention to maintaining the stability of thermocouples during the application process? The stability of thermocouples is closely related to many aspects. Only by ensuring the stability of thermocouples can they perform abnormal tasks. Below are some methods to ensure the stability of thermocouples.

The mission principle of thermocouples:

Thermocouples are the most accurate and economical product in the development of measurement sensors, making them the most common example in the application of temperature measuring components. They directly measure temperature and convert temperature signals into thermoelectric potential signals, which are then converted into the temperature of the measured medium through process electrical instruments. The shapes of various thermocouples are often very different due to their needs, but their fundamental structures are largely similar. They are usually composed of important components such as hot electrodes, insulation sleeves, maintenance tubes, and junction boxes, and are used in conjunction with performance instruments, recording instruments, and electronic conditioners.

Factors affecting the stability of thermocouples:

The stability of thermocouples varies due to differences in application temperature and atmosphere, and the maximum application temperature for a single type of sensor, such as K-type thermocouples, also changes due to differences in diameter. K-type thermocouples with similar diameters also have significant differences in stability due to differences in construction.

In order to ensure the stability of thermocouples, it is necessary for everyone to consider their own application conditions when choosing thermocouples. Common and highest application temperatures, oxidation recovery and other application atmospheres, shock resistance, and for detachable thermocouples, the impact of the atmosphere first depends on the material of the maintenance tube and the structure of the thermocouple. Therefore, it is necessary to be familiar with and grasp the physical and chemical functions of various maintenance tube materials.01
