How to Install Hot Runner Vibration Monitoring Equipment

There are two ways to install hot runner vibration monitoring equipment: permanent online sensor installation and portable temporary testing. The installation procedures are straightforward and useful:

1. Portable Testing Equipment (No Modification Needed, Temporary Use)

There are just two easy steps involved in the installation process:

Verify that the mold has fully cooled to a safe operating temperature and that the injection molding machine has been stopped and turned off. The mold surface outside the hot runner manifold should be cleaned of any remaining glue and oil.

Attach the portable vibration meter's magnetic base to the mold's exterior, near the manifold, and as close to the hot runner's core as you can. Next, switch on the measuring device. If locating the vibration source is required, examine each nozzle point individually by placing the stethoscope probe close to the manifold.

2. Online High-Temperature Vibration Sensor (Needs Pre-Reserved Location, Long-Term Monitoring)

Preparation: Set aside sensor mounting holes on the manifold's side, avoiding the runner and heating sections, during the mold design phase.

Prepare high-temperature resistant sealant and high-temperature resistant connectors ahead of time, and choose a high-temperature resistant sensor appropriate for the hot runner temperature.

Steps for Installation:

After cleaning the mounting holes, use bolts or threads to fasten the sensor to the manifold's pre-drilled location, making sure there are no gaps.

When wiring, stay away from heating coils and high-temperature regions and use high-temperature protected wires. Make sure the terminals are properly insulated, then use high-temperature insulating adhesive to seal them.

Attach the sensor signal output line to the PLC or MES control system of the injection molding process. Test the injection molding machine for steady production after zero-point calibration, make sure the data output is steady and free of drift, and set the alert threshold to finish the installation.

Important Installation Safety Measures:

To prevent the sensing element from being burned out by high temperatures, the sensor must never come into direct contact with the flow channel or heating element.

The installation needs to be safe. Monitoring results will be impacted by measurement data that is excessively high due to loose sensors.

In order to prevent data fluctuations, the cable needs to be a high-temperature insulated cable that can tolerate high temperatures and protect against electromagnetic interference from the heating coil.
