How to perform calibration services for thermocouples

All calibration services for commonly used types of thermocouples are provided by NIST on a scale of -196 ° C to+2100 ° C. The temperature scale for a specific calibration depends on the type of wire or thermocouple submitted.
Thermocouples can be calibrated through comparison or fixed point calibration, depending on the type of thermocouple, temperature scale, and required accuracy. Both methods can be traced back to the World Temperature Scale (ITS-90) in 1990. The comparative calibration of thermocouple wires is used as a reference thermocouple for NIST maintenance. The fixed-point calibration of thermocouples uses the four defined temperatures of ITS-90: the solidification points of zinc, aluminum, silver, and gold.
Use the first or second method to test single leg thermocouples against the platinum thermoelectric reference standard Pt-67 maintained by NIST.
NIST thermocouple calibration only requires bare wires. We hope that customers do not send ceramic insulation and maintenance pipes, as they may be damaged during transportation. If the thermocouple is shipped in a mounting bracket, such as a maintenance tube assembly, a special dismantling fee may be charged, and the components will be returned unassembled.

Regarding base metal thermocouples (E, J, K, N, and T types) and thermocouple materials, only unused thermocouples are eligible for testing. Calibration will only be carried out when the thermocouple may reach the prescribed accuracy.
