MI armored heating cables are used to insulate asphalt tanks in petrochemical enterprises from freezing.

Some petrochemical companies use asphalt tanks, which require insulation and heating in winter. Because asphalt requires high temperatures, standard self-limiting temperature heating cables (maximum operating temperature 105°C) and constant power heating cables (maximum operating temperature 150°C) cannot meet these requirements. Therefore, MI armored heating cables are recommended for insulation and frost protection. They utilize single or dual alloy heating wires as the heat source, magnesium oxide as the thermal insulator, and a seamless, continuous stainless steel sheath.
MI stainless steel outer sheathed heating cables have a high operating temperature, reaching continuous operating temperatures of 250-590°C. Choosing the right heating cable can maintain an asphalt pipeline temperature of 220°C. Importantly, after installation, the heating cable must be controlled with an explosion-proof temperature controller.
Also, the outer sheath of the MI stainless steel outer sheathed heating cable is highly heat-resistant. Due to the structural characteristics of the heating cable, it cannot be cut arbitrarily. At present, MI armored heating cable series products can be divided into stainless steel sheathed MI heating cable, which can withstand temperatures up to 650℃; 825 alloy sheathed MI heating cable, which can withstand temperatures up to 800℃; copper sheathed MI heating cable, which can withstand temperatures up to 300℃; and copper-nickel alloy sheathed MI heating cable, which can withstand temperatures up to 450℃. They can meet the needs of high-temperature heating and high power.
