II. Calculation (Theoretical)

1. Dry Product Output: 695 kg/h

2. Moisture Evaporation Rate: ≈1599 kg/h

4. Calculation of Heating Area:

Heat required for moisture evaporation: Q1 = 951405 kcal/h

‚Heat required for material temperature rise: Q2 = 22240 kcal/h

Therefore: Q_total = 951405 + 22240 + 97365 = 107 1010 kcal/h

5. Drying intensity calculation: (At 200℃, the drying intensity is generally 15-30 kg/m²h)

The total effective area of ​​5 drums (φ2.0×3) is: 14.13 × 5 = 70.65 m²

Then the drying intensity is: 1599 ÷ 70.65 = 22.63 The required water volume (kg/m²h) meets the requirements.

6. Calculation of wet processing capacity:

Main unit speed: 1-5 rpm, calculated at 1.5 rpm.

Film thickness: 0.3-1.5 mm, calculated at 0.5 mm.

Specific gravity of liquid: 1100 kg/m³

Therefore: The processing capacity of each drum is: 2294 ÷ 5 = 459 kg

3.14 × 2.0 × 3 × (0.5 ÷ 1000) × 1.5 × 60 × 1100 × 0.75 = 699 kg/h > 459 kg/h

III. Working Principle

1. High operational flexibility and wide adaptability: The drum dryer has a high operational flexibility. 1. **Many Factors Affecting Drum Drying:** Changing one of the many factors influencing drum drying will not affect the drying operation of other factors. For example, the main factors affecting drum drying include heating medium temperature, material properties, film thickness, and drum rotation speed. Changing any one of these parameters will directly affect the drying rate, while the factors are unrelated. This makes drum drying operation very convenient, allowing it to adapt to various materials and different production volumes.

2. **High Thermal Efficiency of Drum Drying:** The thermal efficiency of drum drying is approximately 80% to 90%. This is because the heat transfer mechanism of drum drying is heat conduction, and the heat transfer direction remains consistent throughout the entire operation cycle. Except for heat loss through end caps and thermal radiation, the remaining heat is used for moisture evaporation from the film on the outer wall of the drum.

3. **Short Drying Time:** The wet film formed on the outer wall of the drum at the beginning of drying is generally 0.3–1.5 mm, and the entire drying cycle only takes 10–60 seconds. After the wet material has lost moisture, it is unloaded by a scraper, making drum dryers suitable for viscous slurry materials. Drying this type of material is difficult using other drying equipment.

4. High drying rate: Due to the thin material film and the consistent direction of heat and mass transfer, the surface of the material film can maintain 15-30 kg H2O (m².h).
