Structural requirements for thermocouples

Thermocouples are the medium for temperature measurement and are energy converters with strong functions. However, the structure determines the use. Thermocouples have such working performance because they have a matching structure. Therefore, the structure of thermocouples provides the most basic guarantee for the reliable and stable work of thermocouples. Experts from China Sensors will introduce to you what requirements thermocouples have for the structure.

The structure of the thermocouple In order to ensure that the thermocouple works reliably and stably, the requirements for its structure are as follows:

1. The welding of the two thermocouples that form the thermocouple must be firm. This is because the thermocouple is composed of two conductors of different identities connected at both ends to form a loop. When the temperature of the two joint points is different, an electromotive force is generated in the loop. The thermocouple uses this principle to measure temperature, so the welding must be firm to ensure the formation of the loop;

2. The two thermocouples should be well insulated from each other to prevent short circuits, so as to ensure the normal operation of the loop;

3. The connection between the compensation wire and the free end of the thermocouple should be convenient and reliable, so as to ensure that certain measures can be taken at the cold end to compensate for the influence caused by the temperature change of the cold end and ensure the accuracy of the measurement.

4. The protective sleeve should be able to ensure that the thermocouple is fully isolated from the harmful medium, so as to protect the thermocouple from corrosion, work normally, and extend the life of the thermocouple.
