The movement of the airflow in the cyclone separator of the adsorption dryer is appropriate and disorderly

 

Cyclone separator is also called centrifugal force separator, which uses the centrifugal force that occurs when the airflow containing fine powder makes a rotating motion to separate the fine powder from the gas.

 

Strictly speaking, the movement of the air flow in the cyclone is appropriately chaotic. Due to the agglomeration and loosening of the fine powder, the rebound effect of the wall on the fine powder and the collision effect between the particles, the separation mechanism is very complicated, and the theoretical research has never been interrupted.

 

After the airflow containing fine powder enters the cyclone separator, it rotates along the inner wall and descends, because the radius of rotation decreases after reaching the cone. According to the law of conservation of momentum, the rotation speed is gradually increased, and the particles in the airflow are subjected to greater centrifugal force. Because the separation speed generated by centrifugal force is hundreds of times or even thousands of times larger than the sedimentation speed by the effect of gravity, the fine powder is separated from the rotating airflow and falls along the wall of the cyclone separator to be separated.

Cyclone separators are widely used in convective monotonic systems and are the primary equipment for collecting products from gases. The cyclone separator has a simple structure and is easy to manufacture. As long as the design is reasonable and the manufacture is appropriate, a high separation power can be obtained. For gases with high dust content, the same can be directly separated, and the pressure loss is relatively small, there are no moving parts, so it is durable. There are no other defects other than the abrasion of abrasive materials on the inner wall of the cyclone or the adhesion of fines.

 

Under normal conditions, the cyclone separator can theoretically capture powders above 5 μm, and the separation power can reach more than 90%. However, in actual production operations, the separation is often caused by poor production, improper use of equipment or imperfect operation and processing. Generally only 50% to 80%, sometimes even lower.
