An air heater is an electric heating device primarily used to heat gas flow. The heating element is a stainless steel electric heating tube. Multiple baffles (guide plates) are installed within the heater cavity to guide the gas flow, prolonging its residence time within the cavity. This ensures sufficient and even heating of the gas, improving heat exchange efficiency. The stainless steel heating tube is a seamless steel tube containing a heating wire, with the interstices filled with magnesium oxide powder, which has excellent thermal conductivity and insulation properties. When current passes through the high-temperature resistance wire, the heat generated diffuses through the crystallized magnesium oxide powder to the surface of the heating tube, where it is then transferred to the heated air, achieving the desired heating effect.
Electric air heaters are primarily used to heat air flow from an initial temperature to the desired temperature, reaching up to 850°C. They are widely used in research and production laboratories in aerospace, weapons, chemical, and university settings. They are particularly suitable for automated temperature control and testing high-flow, high-temperature integrated systems and accessories. Electric air heaters have a wide range of applications: they can heat any gas, producing hot air that is dry, moisture-free, non-conductive, non-flammable, non-explosive, chemically non-corrosive, pollution-free, safe and reliable, and quickly and controllably heats the heated space. There are two ways to heat air in the air conditioning process: the first is to heat the air before it is treated with water. Air heater manufacturers typically use this method in winter, when temperatures are relatively low. This method is often called primary heating or preheating. Its purpose is to increase the enthalpy of the fresh air and reduce its humidity, thereby increasing the humidification capacity of the outdoor air in the wastewater chamber, thereby increasing the percentage of fresh air and meeting hygiene requirements. The heater used is called a preheater and is located at the outlet of the fresh air compartment.
Air Heater Heating Methods in Air Conditioning
The second method is to heat the air after it has been treated with water. This method is often called secondary heating or reheating. Its primary purpose is to compensate for insufficient heat in the workshop. The heater used is called a reheater and is typically located behind the water baffle in the spray chamber. Although both preheaters and reheaters heat air, their functions are different. They should not be confused or substituted for each other, as this will alter the air quality in the workshop.
Air heaters are a widely used type of heater, commonly referred to as air heaters. They can be further categorized into various types based on the flow of the heated gas. Common examples include nitrogen heaters and hydrogen heaters. These are also referred to as ducted gas heaters.
