What are the stages of the failure patterns of injection molding machines

The variation pattern of failure rate of injection molding machines over time, also known as the bathtub curve. The failure rate of injection molding machines can be roughly divided into three stages over time: early failure period, occasional failure period, and wear and tear failure period.
1、 Early failure period
The injection molding machine is in the early failure period, with a high failure rate at the beginning, but the failure rate rapidly decreases over time. The early failure period is also known as the break-in period for mechanical products. The length of this period varies depending on the design and manufacturing quality of products and systems. The faults during this period were mainly caused by design and manufacturing defects or improper use of the environment.
2、 Occasional failure period
The injection molding machine has entered an occasional failure period, and the failure rate is generally stable, approaching a fixed value. During this period, the faults are random. During unexpected failures, the failure rate of the injection molding machine is low and stable. So it can be said that this is a good or normal working period for the injection molding machine Z. This section is called the effective lifespan.
Occasional failures are mostly caused by improper design, use, and maintenance. Therefore, by improving design quality, usage management, monitoring, diagnosis, and maintenance, the failure rate can be reduced to a low level.
3、 Consumption failure period
In the later stages of using injection molding machines, the failure rate began to rise. This is caused by wear, fatigue, aging, and corrosion of injection molding machine parts. If a certain degree of major repair is carried out at the turning point, which is the beginning of the wear failure period, it can economically and effectively reduce the failure rate.
The three stages of the failure rate curve of a single cylinder injection molding machine truly reflect the changing pattern of the failure rate from running in, debugging, normal operation to major repairs or scrapping. Strengthening the daily management and maintenance of injection molding machines can extend the cycle of unexpected failures. Accurately finding the turning point can avoid excessive maintenance or expand the scope of maintenance, thereby achieving investment benefits.
