What are the surface treatment methods for stainless steel after electric heating welding?

There are several main surface treatment methods for stainless steel electric heating rings after welding:
Mechanical grinding
Using sandpaper, grinding wheel and other tools to grind the welding surface can remove burrs, spatter and oxide scale at the weld to make the surface smooth and flat. For some electric heating rings that do not require high surface roughness, this is a simple and effective treatment method.
Generally, coarse-grained sandpaper or grinding wheel is used for preliminary grinding to remove larger defects and impurities, and then fine-grained sandpaper or grinding wheel is gradually replaced for fine grinding to achieve the required surface finish.
Polishing treatment
Includes mechanical polishing, chemical polishing and electrolytic polishing. Mechanical polishing is to use equipment such as polishing wheels to rotate and rub the welding surface at high speed to further improve the surface finish; chemical polishing is to use chemical solutions to corrode and dissolve the metal surface to make the surface flat and bright; electrolytic polishing is in the electrolytic cell, through the action of electric current to preferentially dissolve the microscopic protrusions on the surface of stainless steel, thereby achieving surface polishing.
Electrolytic polishing can obtain better surface quality and better maintain the dimensional accuracy of the workpiece. It is suitable for stainless steel electric heating rings with high surface quality requirements.
Pickling and passivation
Pickling is the use of acidic solution to remove oxide scale and impurities on the welding surface. Commonly used pickling solutions include a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Passivation is to form a dense passivation film on the surface of stainless steel after pickling to improve its corrosion resistance.
Pickling and passivation can improve the appearance of stainless steel electric heating rings, while enhancing its corrosion resistance and preventing rust and other problems during use.
Sandblasting
Use compressed air to spray sand particles at high speed onto the welding surface, remove impurities and oxide scale on the surface through the impact of sand particles, and form a certain degree of roughness on the surface. The surface after sandblasting has good adhesion, which is conducive to the application of subsequent coatings or other protective layers.
According to different needs, sand particles of different particle sizes and sandblasting pressures can be selected to achieve different surface treatment effects.
Coating protective layer
In order to further improve the corrosion resistance, wear resistance or insulation performance of stainless steel electric heating coils, various protective layers such as paint, coating, plastic coating or ceramic coating can be applied to the welding surface.
Before applying the protective layer, the welding surface needs to be thoroughly cleaned and treated to ensure good adhesion between the protective layer and the substrate. For example, for electric heating coils that need to be insulated, insulating paint can be applied or thermal spray ceramic coating can be used to achieve insulation function.
