What do I need to do before using a rapid temperature thermocouple?

Thermocouple compensation wires are an important component of thermocouple measurement circuits. Its main function is to connect thermocouples with measuring instruments and offset the impact of cold end temperature changes in the connecting circuit on the measurement results through compensating wires. However, the length of the compensating wire does have a certain impact on the measurement results, which is determined by the working principle of the thermocouple.


A thermocouple is a thermocouple formed by using wires of two different materials to generate a thermoelectric potential. When there is a temperature difference between the contact points of two wires, a thermoelectric potential is generated. This thermoelectric potential is directly proportional to the temperature difference, and the magnitude of the temperature difference can be determined by measuring the magnitude of the thermoelectric potential. However, the measurement principle of thermocouples is based on the temperature difference between two wires, rather than directly measuring temperature.

 

The function of thermocouple compensation wire is to lead the cold end of the thermocouple to the cold end contact of the measuring instrument, in order to maintain the stability of the cold end temperature. Compensation wires are usually made of the same material as thermocouples, which can generate the same thermoelectric potential as thermocouples in the compensation wires, thereby offsetting the influence of cold end temperature changes in the connected circuit on the measurement results.

When the length of the compensating wire changes, the thermoelectric potential generated in the compensating wire also changes. This is because the magnitude of thermoelectric potential is directly proportional to the length of the wire. Therefore, if the length of the compensating wire changes, the thermoelectric potential generated in the compensating wire will also change, which will affect the measurement results.01
