Choosing the right sheath material is also very crucial. 304 stainless steel sheath is fine for most industrial settings, but in places where chemicals are used or food is made, incoloy or titanium sheaths should be used to keep things from rusting and leaking. Also, don't dry-fire the cartridge heater. If you don't make good contact with the heated object, the temperature will go over 1000°F, which will burn the coils and break down the insulation.
