Ethiopia International Building Materials, Hardware and Sanitary Ware Exhibition is a leading exhibition in the construction industry in Ethiopia. The exhibition is held once a year, with more than 100 enterprises participating, including many industry giants. They are from Türkiye, Ethiopia, Kenya, India, Egypt, China, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sudan and Italy.
Exhibitors' exhibits mainly include: aluminum, doors and windows, PVC, door locks, glass products, marble, cable ladders, lamps, switches and sockets, water pumps, sanitary ware, coatings, waterproof materials, plastic molds, etc. The 8th exhibition will be held at the Millennium Exhibition Center in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, from October 13 to October 16, 2017. The exhibition will provide an international trade platform for exhibitors from all countries and an excellent opportunity for construction industry enterprises to expand the African market.
Ethiopia is located in the northeast of Africa, the capital of Addis Ababa, and the headquarters of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Ethiopia is successfully transforming into a regional business center due to its convenient business environment and stable national government. The country generally reduced import tariffs and even duty-free imports to 19 Southeast African countries, which will create potential business opportunities for 4 million people.
On the basis of the African standard of products, Addis Ababa not only provides a better business environment for local but also for overseas business partners. The construction industry in this city is booming, such as high-rise buildings, large shopping centers, etc., which are built in more and more cities, including many luxury services and related equipment.
According to the World Bank's Africa Pact released in 2013, the average economic growth rate of sub-Saharan African countries will be higher than 5% in the next three years, which will greatly exceed the global average economic growth rate. According to the report, in 2012, about 1/4 of African countries grew by more than 7%. Among them, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Niger, Liberia, Burkina Faso and Rwanda took the lead in economic growth in the world.
Ethiopia's GDP at purchasing power parity (GDP PPP) in 2013 has reached 118.2 billion US dollars, with GDP of 47.3 billion US dollars, ranking 7th in Africa and 69th in the world. Ethiopia has become the 7th largest economy in Africa. With the gradual improvement of the global economy, the continuous rise of commodity prices and the increase of investment in regional infrastructure and trade, Africa has strong medium-term growth expectations. In recent years, China's bilateral trade with Ethiopia, especially its export to Ethiopia, has shown a sustained and rapid growth trend.
As the second largest exporter in Africa and one of the African countries with the fastest economic growth in recent years, the fact that Ethiopia's imports from China have increased year by year has made Ethiopia's potential to become an important export market in Africa increasingly prominent. Since 2002, China's exports to Ethiopia have been developing at a sustained and high speed. With the increase of foreign investment attraction and the large-scale development of infrastructure construction in Ethiopia in recent years, China's investment and contracted projects in Ethiopia have increased, and its exports of raw materials and capital goods have increased significantly.
In recent years, motor vehicles, various construction machinery, raw materials, hardware and building materials account for a large proportion of the main products exported to Ethiopia. On June 27, 2014, the Volta Information Center reported that the Ethiopian Highway Administration signed an agreement with China Communications Corporation (CCCC), which will build a 102 km long highway in the Oromo River region. According to the report, the project costs 2.5 billion Birr and is expected to be completed in three years.
