Solar Power International, co sponsored by the Smart Power Alliance (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA), was held in San Francisco, USA, in 2003. After that, it toured the United States from September to October every year, including San Diego, Anaheim, and Los Angeles. This exhibition is a major event for promoting solar products and the solar energy industry in the United States, as well as for enterprises to develop solar energy supply networks An important platform for increasing visibility.
The exhibition is the largest professional exhibition and trade fair for solar energy in the United States and even in the world. It is also one of the most successful and influential international exhibitions in the industry, and has received strong support from the government.
In 2017, a total of 657 exhibitors attended the exhibition, including nearly 80 Chinese exhibitors, with a booth area of over 26000 square meters. Over 100 event forums were held at the exhibition site, where industry elites discussed the latest development direction of the solar energy field and explored new ideas for industry development.
A large number of well-known photovoltaic enterprises at home and abroad participated in this solar energy industry event, including Huawei, ABB, Shoals, Jingke, Yingli, Leye, LG Hanwha, Shoals, etc.
According to the latest data released by the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA), in recent years, renewable energy power generation in the United States has grown rapidly. In the first half of 2016, renewable energy power generation accounted for 16.9% of the total power generation in the United States, while in the entire year of last year, renewable energy power generation accounted for only 13.7% of the total power generation in the United States. It is expected that this proportion will at least treble by 2020. Factors such as increased government support and lower technology costs will promote the deployment of distributed renewable energy in the United States. US President Barack Obama announced on July 19th, 2016 that solar energy will be popularized in American households, especially low-income and middle class families. In the future, the number of households installing solar energy will be 10 times higher than today. According to the statistics of the Solar Energy Industry Alliance, 1 million households in the United States are using solar energy. The government plans to have a total installed capacity of 1GW of solar energy in low-income households by 2020, but only 1/4 of the task has been completed. In order to achieve the goal, the solar energy industry will spread to low-income households in the United States at a rate of 10 times.
