How to extend the life of water quality monitoring sensors

Here are some ways to extend the service life of online water quality monitoring sensors:

1. Reasonable installation and layout

- Choose a suitable location: install the sensor in a place with stable water flow, no vortex and impact, and avoid installing it near the water inlet or outlet and other places with turbulent water flow to prevent the water sample from scouring and wearing the sensor.

- Avoid interference: stay away from large motors, transformers and other equipment that generate strong electromagnetic interference to prevent electromagnetic interference from affecting the normal operation of the sensor.

2. Optimize operating conditions

- Control water sample conditions: ensure that the temperature, pH value, salinity and other parameters of the water sample are within the applicable range of the sensor, avoid the water sample containing a large amount of oil, suspended matter and other pollutants, prevent them from adhering to the sensor surface, affecting the measurement accuracy and service life.

- Stable operating parameters: keep the flow rate, pressure and other operating parameters of the water sample stable, avoid frequent and large fluctuations, and reduce the impact on the internal components of the sensor.

3. Regular maintenance and care

- Clean the sensor: Clean the sensor regularly according to the prescribed cycle to remove dirt, algae and other attachments on the surface. For different types of sensors, use appropriate cleaning methods. For example, for optical sensors, you can gently wipe the optical window with a clean soft cloth.

- Check and replace parts: Regularly check the sensor's electrodes, diaphragms and other vulnerable parts. If they are found to be worn, aged or damaged, replace them in time. At the same time, check the sensor's connecting wires, seals, etc. to ensure that they are intact and prevent water ingress or poor contact.

IV. Correct calibration and use

- Regular calibration: Calibrate regularly according to the sensor's calibration cycle requirements to ensure the accuracy of the measurement data. During the calibration process, strictly follow the operating procedures and use standard calibration solutions and equipment.

- Standard operation: Operators should be familiar with the use and precautions of the sensor to avoid damage to the sensor due to misoperation. When the sensor is not in use, it should be properly stored as required to avoid long-term exposure to harsh environments.

V. Establish maintenance record files

- Record the sensor's installation time, usage, maintenance content, calibration records, and fault repairs in detail. By analyzing these records, potential problems with the sensor can be discovered in a timely manner, and measures can be taken in advance for maintenance and maintenance to extend its service life.
